But the pocket “itch” is still there! The thing is, I think I know what the ideal pocket layout would be and I don’t think it exists in any binder.
I want:
- At least 4, easy-to-get-things-in-and-out-of card slots
 - At least one other pocket for things like stamps
 - A zipped pocket (for the other cards that don’t sit in a card-holder or in the card slots)
 - Flat-as-a-bat floppiness
 - 19mm rings
 - A back pocket that runs across the full width of the binder to put paper money in

Other pockets would be good as long as I can get things in and out of them reasonably easily.
So how do my current stash of pocket-sized binders fare?

You’ll see added to the table an Urban, which I don’t actually have as yet, but am bidding a miniscule amount on, on eBay. It might have the layout and functionality I want (I would need to see how flat-as-a-bat it is if I win it) but will I love it? It’s not leather and it’s a bit dull-looking. I suppose if I win it, I could potentially decorate it so that it looks less drab.
The holborn pocket has everything but the 19mm rings. It has 4 card slots, other pockets where cards can be kept, including a hidden zipped one, all of which are easy to access. It has the most cavernous back pocket I've seen on a FF, and it lies pretty darn flat straight off. It's super soft and lovely too, and quite stuffable. I only just got mine, but it really is lovely. Have you had a chance to see one in person? I hadn't, and when mine arrived I was surprised how nice it is.
ReplyDeleteHi Shadow Wolf,
ReplyDeleteYou know, I looked and looked (online) at the pocket Holborn but think that, as ever, the 15mm rings will be the killer. I never found the zipped pocket in the personal-size Holborn brilliantly easy to get into (but was great for putting loads of things I needed but not needed fast access to!). Is the pocket size zipped pocket easy?
Fancy doing a post for on here about your pocket Holborn? I would love you to! (And then you'll enable me and I'll end up getting one, but it's a risk I'm willing to take!) :-)
Hi, I just got a pocket Malden and love it. I've been using a cheap pocket one for general life stuff, but wanted one dedicated to fitness/roller derby as well. The Malden (in turquoise) is beautiful. I think it would function as a wallet as well, but I have a wallet.
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda the pocket Chameleon has everything except the bigger rings and it has 5 card slots. The leather is lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's the ring size that's the killer though. I *have* pocket binders with lots of pockets, but 15mm rings and I just can't get them to work...
ReplyDeleteHo hum.
